Built in a garden
I'm a person who has a hobby of having hobbies. A little while ago I started a small veggie garden with my youngest daughter — purely for the joy of growing our own produce and helping her understand where food comes from and why sustainability matters.
We have a small block of land and we're doing our best to maximise it — fruit trees, vegetables, chickens, the works. After revisiting my seed collection one afternoon, I quickly realised I had no idea what was planted where, what had been fertilised, the soil conditions, what grew well next to what.
I looked for apps. There were a few, but none that did quite what I needed. So I built my own. Plotera was born from that afternoon in the garden with my daughter — and I hope it helps your garden too.

Interactive Tips
Step-by-step tooltips that highlight features as you use them.
🔍
🏡 Home Dashboard ▶
Your central hub. See garden summaries, active alerts, weather, and quick links to all features.
Tap the Gardens tab to see all your gardens and open one.
The Nursery tab shows your seedling trays at a glance.
Tap the ☰ menu (top left) to access every section of the app.
Open Weather from the main menu for a 7-day forecast, garden weather alerts, and planting or harvest suggestions based on the active garden.
Weather data is pulled from your saved weather location — update it from Settings whenever your garden location changes.
New accounts are walked through a short setup: where you grow, what you want to grow, and a first garden. You can run it again from Account & Settings.
🌿 Creating Your First Garden ▶
Your first garden is usually built for you during setup. You can add more at any time, by hand or with the Auto Garden Builder.
Setting up for the first time? Plotera asks where you grow and how big the space is, then builds the garden and offers crops that suit your area this month.
Already have a garden? Say so at the start and Plotera builds the space but leaves it empty, so you can place your crops where they really are.
Tap + New Garden from the menu or the Home Dashboard.
Give your garden a name (e.g. "Back Yard Beds") and set the grid size — columns × rows.
Choose your climate zone so the planting calendar gives accurate advice.
Tap Use Auto Garden Builder Instead if you want recommended plants, paths, and zone sizing generated for you.
You can create multiple gardens — great for separating veggie beds, pots, and greenhouse.
✨ Auto Garden Builder ▶
The Auto Garden Builder creates a suggested garden layout from your size, climate profile, growing preference, soil type, and path choice.
Start it from the menu or from the Not sure what to plant? prompt during garden setup.
When you launch it from an existing garden, Plotera uses that garden’s saved weather/climate profile automatically unless you enter a different location.
Choose a preset size or enter dimensions in metres. Plotera converts that to a grid using roughly 30cm per cell.
If you launch it outside a garden, enter a postcode, city, or region so Plotera can estimate climate and seasonal planting windows.
The preview shows path cells, recommended plant zones, companion-aware choices, and expected harvest timing before you create the garden.
☀️ Location Advisor ▶
Measures how much sun a spot actually gets, by having you trace the sun's path across your sky with the camera. Trees, fences and buildings block it, and Plotera counts what is left.
Open it from ☰ Manage garden in the garden, then Location Advisor.
Stand where you are thinking of planting. The reading is for that spot, so move and measure again for a different bed.
Hold the phone up and follow the arc across the sky, catching each sun marker as you go. The arc is the path the sun really takes at your latitude.
Point at whatever is actually there — a shed roof, a fence, a neighbour’s tree. Anything that blocks the arc is counted as shade for those hours.
You get hours of full sun, dappled light and shade, which Plotera uses to say what will do well there.
Best done on a clear day, and it works whether or not the sun is out — the arc is calculated, not spotted.
If the arc does not move when you do, your phone may not be reporting its direction. Plotera falls back to a second sensor automatically; if it still will not track, close and reopen the scan.
🌍 Soil Centre ▶
Soil Centre keeps reusable soil assessments, testing notes and garden assignments together.
Open Soil Centre from Garden Tools, then choose a Quick Check, Standard Assessment or Advanced / Tested Soil Wizard path.
Aquarium or water pH strips are supported as an estimated method only: remove mulch, sample soil from 10-15cm deep, mix with distilled or rainwater, settle, then test the clearer water.
Assign the same profile to multiple gardens from Soil Centre or Garden Settings. Gardens store only the profile link, so editing the profile improves advice everywhere it is used.
Watering Advisor, Fertilising Advisor, and Auto Garden Builder now use the assigned profile to adjust advice for fast-draining soil, waterlogging risk, compaction, organic matter, and pH confidence.
👤 Account & Settings ▶
Manage your account, garden, notification, weather, units, appearance, and preference controls from Settings.
Set your location for accurate local weather and frost alerts.
Switch between Metric (cm/mm) and Imperial (feet/inches) at any time.
Turn interactive tips on or off in the Appearance section.
Download My Data (on plotera.app) saves a copy of all your gardens and records to your computer or phone.
Replay New-User Setup walks you through the first-run setup again. It is the real flow, so it creates a garden at the end — you can delete that from Manage Gardens.
Replay Garden Walkthrough reopens the guide to planting, paths, raised beds and the 3D view. It changes nothing in your garden, and the ? button on the garden does the same thing.
🌿 Garden Grid ▶
A visual map of your garden, made of cells. Each cell is 30cm across, so a 4m bed is about 13 cells wide.
Planting is two steps: pick the cells, then press Plant and choose your crop. You do not create anything first.
Select more than one cell and they are planted as a group, watered, fed and harvested together.
Cells that already have a crop are skipped when you select. To change a crop, select it and press Remove first, then plant again.
The Grid Toolbar holds Select, Deselect, Plant, Remove (clears the crop but keeps the bed) and Undo; Copy is on the Plant tab, and Bare soil on the Paths tab.
Paths and surfaces are on their own tab: Path, Gravel, Wood Chips, Lawn and Paving. Paths are not planted, so they stay out of watering and harvest.
Raised beds are on the Beds tab. Select some cells, give the bed a height and a name, and it appears with real sides and soil in the 3D view.
Drag the 2D garden to pan around larger beds. On mobile, pinch to zoom; on desktop, use the zoom buttons or modifier-wheel zoom.
Down the left are GRID and ZONES to show or hide guides, the 2D / 3D switch, and zoom.
New to this? Tap the ? button on the garden to replay the walkthrough that shows you how planting works.
The ☰ Manage garden button in the bottom-left corner holds Water Plan, Feed Plan, Harvest Wizard, Soil Centre, Location Advisor and Garden Settings. Grid Tools builds the garden; this one looks after it.
🌾 3D Growth Simulator ▶
The 3D garden view can show a virtual growth stage for each planted zone based on your planting date and expected harvest time.
Open a garden, switch from 2D to 3D, then use the Growth Simulator toggle in the top-right of the 3D view.
Plotera estimates progress from Date planted and Days to harvest in each zone.
Stages move through Just sown, Seedling, Young plant, Growing, Flowering, Fruiting, Harvest ready, and Finished crop.
Each crop is drawn at its own size and shape, and the garden follows your real sun and live weather - rain, wind, frost and snow.
Tap a plant to give it a poke - it wobbles, then its details open. Keep an eye out for visitors too: birds, butterflies, snails, a rabbit, and frogs when it rains.
📅 Planting Calendar ▶
A month-by-month guide showing what to sow, transplant, and harvest — tailored to your climate zone.
Browse months using the arrow buttons. The current month is highlighted automatically.
Tap any date to review planting, harvest, watering, fertiliser, reminders, and weather for that day. From there you can log watering or fertiliser, set a watering schedule, or add a timed reminder.
The date dots show garden activity: green = planting, yellow = harvest, blue = watering, amber = fertiliser, orange = reminders, and pale blue = frost.
Tap any plant name to jump straight to its full encyclopedia entry.
The calendar respects the climate zone set when you created the garden.
💧 Watering Schedule ▶
Track watering for the whole garden or individual zones and get notified when care is due.
The Watering page opens on an overview of each garden: what it needs today, when it was last watered and how much rain is coming. Tap a garden for its full details and its own watering log.
Set a watering interval for the whole garden or a zone (e.g. every 2 days). Plotera tracks the last time you watered.
Overdue zones are flagged with a ! badge in the drawer menu.
Tap Log Watering on a zone to record it done and reset the timer.
Watering history is stored so you can see patterns over time.
💧 Watering Advisor ▶
The Watering Advisor gives plant-specific watering guidance based on the crop, soil or growing medium, current weather, and watering method.
Open it from the menu, Garden Tools, or a zone's quick panel using Water Tips.
Choose a planted zone or a common vegetable type, then answer soil, weather, and watering-method questions.
Results include frequency, watering depth, best time of day, key tips, and signs of over-watering or under-watering.
Use this for advice; use Watering Schedule when you want recurring due reminders and log history.
🌿 Fertiliser Tracker ▶
Log fertiliser applications and set when Plotera should remind you about the next feed.
Choose the product, date, notes, and a next-feed interval (for example, 14 days) when logging an application.
A yellow ! badge in the menu means the next recorded feed is due.
You can also open the Fertilising Advisor from a zone for plant-specific feeding guidance.
🌿 Fertilising Advisor ▶
The Fertilising Advisor builds a feeding plan from the plant, growth stage, growing setup, last feed date, and any nutrient symptoms.
Open it from the menu, Garden Tools, or directly from a zone. If opened from a planted zone, the plant can be pre-selected.
Choose the growth stage: seedling, vegetative, flowering, fruiting, or dormant/end of season.
Results include nutrient focus, recommended product, frequency, application method, cautions, and plant-family notes.
Suggested feed jobs can be added to your To Do list, and recent advice is saved in the advisor history.
🥕 Harvest Wizard ▶
The Harvest Wizard helps decide whether tricky fruiting crops are ready to pick by checking several ripeness signs together.
Open it from Garden Tools or the main menu. It now covers the main crops where readiness has useful physical signs: melons, squash, fruiting vegetables, roots, tubers, bulb alliums, pods, corn, brassica heads, citrus, tree fruit, berries, and tropical fruit.
The wizard asks crop-specific questions such as tendril dryness, ground spot colour, melon slip, aroma, rind hardness, stem dryness, and fruit firmness.
Results show Ready, Almost Ready, Wait Longer, or Use Soon, plus a confidence level based on how many signs were checked.
If the crop needs more time, you can add a harvest-check reminder to your To Do / Reminders list.
✅ To Do / Reminders ▶
Keep track of garden tasks with priorities, due dates, reminder times, and repeats.
Tap + Add Task to create a new to-do with a name, priority, optional due date, and reminder time.
Use Repeat for daily, weekly, or custom intervals. Completing a repeating task creates its next occurrence.
Tasks are grouped by when they are due: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later and No date. The coloured edge shows the priority.
The tiles at the top count what is overdue, due today, coming up and done this week - tap one to show just those.
Tap the circle to tick a task off. Finished tasks are hidden until you turn on Show completed; tap Undo if you ticked one by mistake.
Tap a task to edit it. The badge in the menu shows how many are still open.
📓 Garden Journal ▶
Use Garden Journal as a searchable notebook for dated garden progress, experiments, pests, weather notes, harvest lessons and ideas.
Each entry can be general, linked to a garden, or linked to a specific zone so notes stay useful even months later.
Attach photos from your camera, device upload, or existing Plotera Gallery images. New uploads are also saved in Photo Gallery with a Journal tag.
Use tags such as harvest, pests, soil, weather, nursery or experiment, then search or filter by month and garden.
Good journal entries answer: what changed, what worked, what failed, and what you want to try next season.
📍 Zones ▶
A zone is a planting — a patch of your garden growing one crop. Each one tracks its own watering, feeding, harvest and history.
Zones are made for you when you plant. Select your cells, press Plant, choose a crop — anything larger than one cell becomes a zone automatically.
Plant the same crop in two separate spots and you get two zones, because the patch by the fence and the patch by the shed are not the same bed.
Rename a zone any time from its detail panel. Ones Plotera named after the crop update themselves if you replant; ones you name are left alone.
The Zones page shows a full summary of all zones and their current status.
Log harvests, notes, and events directly from a zone's detail panel.
🗂 Seed Inventory ▶
Keep a record of all the seeds you own — stock levels, expiry dates, and source details.
Add a seed packet with its variety, supplier and sowing notes, and take a photo of the front and back so the details are always to hand.
Set expiry dates — you'll get a notification when seeds are approaching their use-by date.
Track stock quantity so you know when to reorder before planting season.
📦 Garden Inventory ▶
Keep track of fertilisers, soil, amendments, pest treatments, tools and other supplies you already own.
Start with built-in categories, or add your own categories for the way you organise your shed.
Attach front and back photos so labels, ingredients and application instructions are easy to find later.
Use amount, unit and stock status to see what is available, running low or needs replacing.
🥕 Yield Log ▶
Record every harvest — what you picked, how much, and from which zone.
Log a yield from any zone's detail panel or from the Yield Log page directly.
Track weight or quantity — great for seeing which plants perform best.
Use the log to compare which zones and crops are producing best over time.
💰 Cost Tracker ▶
Log garden expenses to understand what your produce actually costs to grow.
Add expenses like soil, seeds, tools, and fertiliser with categories and amounts.
The total running cost is shown at the top so you can see cumulative spend.
📋 Garden Timeline ▶
Scroll back through each garden to see what grew where, and when - essential for planning crop rotation.
Choose a garden, then drag the timeline or use the arrows to step from one change to the next. Quiet stretches show as "Unchanged until…".
Tap a square to see what was planted there, when it went in, when it came out and how long it grew.
Tap Plantings to search everything you have grown - choose one to jump to it and light it up in the garden.
It is a view only - nothing can be changed here. Plantings you archive or clear stay in the timeline.
📚 Plant Encyclopedia ▶
A library of 250 vegetables, herbs, fruits, flowers and fruit trees with detailed growing guides.
Search by name or filter by category (Tomatoes, Brassicas, Root Vegetables, etc.).
Each entry shows spacing, depth, sun requirements, frost tolerance, and companion plants.
The Planting Windows section shows the best months to sow for your climate zone.
Companions in green are good neighbours; companions in red should be kept apart.
🌱 Seedling Nursery ▶
Track seedlings from sowing through to transplant with a visual tray grid and shared tray reminders.
Create a tray by tapping + New Tray. Set the number of rows and columns to match your physical tray.
Tap any cell to set the plant, status (Sown → Germinated → Ready → Transplanted), and notes.
Use Tray reminders to set a shared Water, Harden Off, Feed, or Plant into garden reminder for the whole tray. Choose a quick offset or an exact date and time.
When cells are Ready to Transplant, or a tray reminder becomes due, Plotera can alert you when notifications are enabled.
The Home Dashboard shows active trays at a glance with a progress summary.
📷 Photo Gallery ▶
A photo diary for each garden — document progress, pest damage, and great harvests.
Tap + Add Photo to upload from your camera or photo library. The Gallery picker can add multiple photos at once.
Photos are compressed to 800px and share one storage allowance across your gardens - the meter in the Gallery shows how much is left.
Add a caption to each photo to remember what it shows.
🔔 Notification Centre & Settings ▶
Plotera can show in-app alerts and send server push or email reminders for due garden care and practical weather changes.
Open Notification Centre to hide an alert, snooze it for one day or one week, restore it later, or clear notifications that are still available in your device tray.
Open Settings, then Notification Settings, allow alerts, and tap Activate to register this phone or browser for server push while the app is closed.
Turn on Email Notifications in Settings to receive a daily digest of due reminders. You can send a test email there too.

• v3.5.413 - October 2026 ▶
New in-depth growing guides in the plant encyclopedia, starting with watermelon, passionfruit, tomato, basil, garlic, lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, capsicum and strawberry: soil, pollination, pruning, propagation, pots, varieties, step-by-step tips, common problems and advice for your own climate, all checked against expert sources. More plants are on the way. Plant pages now use the location on your account for climate and planting times, and on windy days plants in the 3D garden bend in the wind, with their leaves fluttering at the top.
• v3.5.412 - October 2026 ▶
Plants in the 3D garden are now drawn much bigger, so your beds look full and lush and each crop is easier to see up close.
• v3.5.411 - October 2026 ▶
Every plant in the 3D garden has been redrawn. All 250 outdoor plants now have their own shape, leaves and flowers, drawn from our encyclopedia illustrations, and they change as they grow: seedlings, leafy plants, flowers, then fruit or harvest. The 3D view also opens faster, and reopening a garden is quicker because your device remembers the plants it has already drawn. Slower computers now keep the view smooth while you move around. The grid and zone outlines start switched off, and you can turn them on any time.
• v3.5.410 - October 2026 ▶
The Garden Timeline is easier to use. The garden now fills the screen, and you can pinch or use the + and - buttons to zoom in, then drag to look around. Crops show fully grown whenever they were in the ground, so it is easy to see what was where. Under the slider you now see just what was added or removed on each date, with a quick count, and the slider is bigger and easier to drag.
• v3.5.409 - October 2026 ▶
The Garden Timeline has a new look. Each garden opens as a photo tile, and inside you see the garden drawn just like the planner, with every crop at the size it was on that day. Markers on the slider show when things were planted or cleared, quiet stretches are greyed out, and dragging jumps straight between changes. Below the garden, photo cards show what was growing on that date and how far along it was.
• v3.5.408 - October 2026 ▶
Zone History is now the Garden Timeline: pick a garden and scroll back through it to see what grew where and when. Tap a square for its planting dates, or search your plantings to jump straight to them. In the Growth Simulator, leafy crops, roots and bulbs - like pak choy, garlic, chives and spring onions - now reach harvest before they flower, and only go to flower if they are left in the ground. The Watering Advisor has a plant search, and the Help guide is up to date.
• v3.5.407 - October 2026 ▶
The To Do page has a fresh look. Tasks are grouped by when they are due - overdue, today, tomorrow, this week and later - with a quick count of each at the top. Finished tasks are tucked away until you turn on Show completed, and if you tick one by mistake, tap Undo. Watering now opens on a quick overview of each garden - what it needs, when it was last watered and the rain ahead - and you tap a garden for its full details. Seed tray plugs typed by variety name, like Buttercrunch or Yellow Granex, now show the right plant icon.
• v3.5.406 - October 2026 ▶
Give a plant a poke: tap one in 2D or 3D and it gives a little wobble before its details open. You can now download a copy of all your gardens and records at any time from My Account > Download My Data on plotera.app.
• v3.5.405 - October 2026 ▶
The 3D garden now runs noticeably smoother, especially in a web browser, with the same detail as before. Snails now visit the garden from time to time, day or night and in any weather, leaving a faint shiny trail behind them. Weeds in the lawn now darken properly at night, the 2D garden sits centred on wide screens, and the Garden button sits neatly in the corner. Snow now looks like snow in 3D: a grey sky, bigger soft flakes and a white dusting over the ground. Light mode is hidden for now while we finish it.
• v3.5.404 - October 2026 ▶
Fireflies are now a rarer sight: a few small neon-green glows far out by the tree line at night, fading slowly in and out. Morning weather notifications no longer repeat today's rain or UV when your daily forecast has already covered it, and dates now read "today", "tomorrow" or "on Saturday". We have also updated our Terms and Privacy Policy.
• v3.5.403 - October 2026 ▶
New visitors in your garden: when it rains, frogs may turn up by a puddle, and dragonflies sometimes hover and dart over open ground. You will see them in 2D and 3D.
• v3.5.402 - October 2026 ▶
In the grid tools, Copy is now on the Plant tab and Bare soil is on the Paths tab with the other ground types. In 3D, stone paths sit on top of the soil instead of sinking into it, and a faint line across the lawn on some phones is gone.
• v3.5.401 - October 2026 ▶
The Growth Simulator slider is now smooth: plants grow continuously as you drag, in 2D and 3D, instead of jumping from stage to stage. The 3D garden has gentle rises and dips in the lawn, soil and paths, and tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, carrots and lettuce look more natural. Butterflies now fly over raised beds instead of through them. In the grid tools, there is now one Raised bed button, the Move button reads Move pots, and the erase brush no longer removes beds.
• v3.5.400 - October 2026 ▶
A new Garden button (where Harvest was) opens your garden tools: a one-page Garden summary with the weather lately, what is growing, harvests coming, crops finishing and what to plant next, plus Garden sun - scan how much sun your garden gets with your camera, and every plant shows whether it gets enough. Watering now gives each garden its own advice from the weather: how much to water this week, or to hold off when rain is coming. The Zones page groups zones by garden, and the Seed Inventory has a summary at the top and an A to Z index. Pots: press and hold to move, or unlock Move in Beds / Pots; one-cell pots are wider. Little visitors now appear in the 2D garden too, pinch-zoom is smooth, switching gardens is quicker, the new-garden setup opens over the app, and cloud shadows no longer draw lines on some phones.
• v3.5.399 - October 2026 ▶
The 2D garden now redraws much faster, especially on iPhone and iPad, and uses far less memory, so edits show up straight away. On the website, the screenshots on the home page now slide and can be swiped, shown on a phone.
• v3.5.398 - October 2026 ▶
Plotera is now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, as well as Google Play. The iPhone buttons across the website and app now take you straight to the App Store, and the website's menu bar shows both store buttons.
• v3.5.397 - October 2026 ▶
The fireflies now really do come out after dark in the 3D garden - look out across the lawn for their glow - and the birds and butterflies go to bed at night.
• v3.5.396 - October 2026 ▶
Fireflies come out at night in the 3D garden: a few blink and drift low over the lawn, away from the beds, so you can go and find one. There are fewer butterflies by day, and the lawn no longer shows a shiny sheen at night when you look across it at a low angle.
• v3.5.395 - October 2026 ▶
The Auto Garden Builder can now lay out raised beds for you: choose how many, the size of each, and wide paths between them so they are easy to get around. You can also pick more than one thing you want to grow. Press and hold a pot to move it somewhere else in the garden - the plant comes with it - and pot names now sit below the pot so small pots show them in full. Tapping a planting now gives you Archive and Delete right on the pop-up, and Full Details goes straight to editing. The 3D garden has more life: a small bird drops in to peck about on the paths, a bigger bird circles overhead, and orange and lemon butterflies flutter over the beds on fine days. Boysenberry is in the plant list, and plants you type in by name now show in the 2D view. The grid tools tab is now called Beds / Pots.
• v3.5.394 - October 2026 ▶
Plotera auf Deutsch: hundreds more screens, buttons and messages now appear in German when you choose Deutsch in Settings - including pots, the Yield Log, the Soil Centre, Settings and the calendar - and dates show the German way. The 3D garden now shows at most two little scenes at a time, and the gnome sometimes stands right in the garden.
• v3.5.393 - October 2026 ▶
Pots! Use the new Pot tool on the Beds tab: tap where it goes, then pick round, square or a long rectangle, its size (1 to 16 cells), height and material - terracotta, glazed in four colours, concrete, plastic, half-barrel or metal. Plant in it like any bed; it shows in 2D and 3D, and the path it stands on comes back if you remove it. More life in the 3D garden too: birds that fly in and hop along the paths, a harvest basket, gloves left on the path, a sprinkler on the lawn with its hose, and a softer, rounder rabbit, plus a cat, a garden gnome, a duck, bags of soil and a wheelbarrow on the lawn, and three hens scratching about in the garden. The setting sun now sinks behind the trees instead of glowing in front of them.
• v3.5.392 - October 2026 ▶
The garden now changes through the day: every few hours you might find a watering can left out, a shovel stuck in the ground, a bird perched on a hay fork or a rabbit nibbling at the edge of the lawn in the 3D view. Paths look laid by hand, not by ruler: edges wobble and corners round off where a path meets soil, a bed or lawn, with the odd pebble or chip spilled across, in both 2D and 3D. New path textures too - packed river stone in mixed sizes, crushed gravel, worn pavers with gritty joints and richer woodchip - and no more seams between path squares. In 3D, soil is crumbly and matte with small clods, with no shine or stripes, and the grass and weeds darken at night.
• v3.5.391 - October 2026 ▶
Partly cloudy days now look like it: soft cloud shadows drift across the field and the forest with the wind, and the sun dims over your garden as one passes. The 3D lawn has real grass you can see, weeds and wildflowers right out to the tree line, and no more repeating pattern in the grass.
• v3.5.390 - October 2026 ▶
The forest around the 3D view is shaded by the sun and casts soft shadows that lengthen in the evening. The grass has lusher and drier patches, and weeds and wildflowers grow through the lawn in both 2D and 3D. A change made just before you close the app is still saved.
• v3.5.389 - October 2026 ▶
Safer saving: an older copy of your garden left open on another device can no longer undo newer changes, and beds you clear stay cleared. If the app is ever showing the copy saved on your phone it now tells you, and keeps trying for the latest. Photos are stored separately, so gardens load much faster. You can now show your password while typing it.
• v3.5.388 - October 2026 ▶
Plotera News is live at plotera.app/news, with every update we ship. Forms no longer pick a garden for you: logging a harvest, a to-do, a cost or a photo asks which garden, the Yield Log starts on all gardens, and the Water Wizard lists beds from every garden.
• v3.5.387 - October 2026 ▶
The Yield Log has monthly harvest charts, filters by garden and a CSV export. The Soil Centre is rebuilt: choose a quick or a full test, enter lab results directly, add pH readings over time and see it all on one dashboard. In 3D, the sun now sets behind the trees.
• v3.5.384 - October 2026 ▶
The 3D view now sits in a forest clearing with mountains behind, and the scenery follows the live weather: dusk, cloud, rain and frost. Windy days bring swirls of air and blowing leaves, and slower phones automatically drop extras to stay smooth. The floating Harvest button is now a basket, and the sign-in screen shows the new Plotera logo.
• v3.5.382 - October 2026 ▶
iPhones now appear in the list of devices that receive your notifications.
• v3.5.379 - September 2026 ▶
Support for the new Plotera Android app, with Google sign-in, your phone's camera and gallery, and notifications. Updates now reach every device reliably as soon as they are released.
• v3.5.361 - September 2026 ▶
Your seed inventory is now one list across the whole account. Switching gardens no longer empties it, and seeds can be edited or removed from any garden.
• v3.5.343 - September 2026 ▶
New plantings are dated today by default, so watering and harvest timing start straight away — you can still change it. The walkthrough also explains what choosing a crop from the guide brings with it, and shows the seed or seedling setting.
• v3.5.342 - September 2026 ▶
The walkthrough now marks the right thing on every step, the practice cells are picked from the middle of your garden rather than a corner, and setup uses Plotera’s own plant icons instead of emoji.
• v3.5.341 - September 2026 ▶
Setup now shows a second set of crops thriving in your area this month, and works out what they will drink against the rain actually forecast — so you can see the watering being planned rather than guessed.
• v3.5.340 - September 2026 ▶
Setup now shows the work behind its suggestions: your daylight hours and how high the sun gets today, your climate and hardiness zone with typical winter lows, and how many of the crops in the guide are in their planting window where you are this month.
• v3.5.339 - September 2026 ▶
The garden walkthrough now shows what it is talking about: the crop picker is highlighted properly, there is a step showing the four cells you picked, and the finished planting is scrolled into view rather than sitting off screen.
• v3.5.338 - September 2026 ▶
Searching for a plant now names the patch after it, the same as picking one from the list — Watermelons, then Watermelons 2 for the next one. No more renaming every planting from “New planting”.
• v3.5.337 - September 2026 ▶
A second garden with the same name is now numbered for you — My Garden 2 rather than two gardens you cannot tell apart. Planting a crop also lets you take a photo with the camera, not just pick one from your library.
• v3.5.336 - September 2026 ▶
Setup now fills your garden properly — the crops you choose are laid out in beds sized to the plot instead of three small patches — and the last screen tells you what actually went in and where, rather than naming one crop.
• v3.5.335 - September 2026 ▶
Setup now suggests crops properly instead of showing an empty list, and never leaves you on a screen with nothing to tap. Walkthrough tips fit the screen, only one tip shows at a time, and you can see your garden behind them. The forecast shows six days across two rows.
• v3.5.334 - September 2026 ▶
Garden cards now show the 3D preview on phones, the weather card stays inside the screen, Today lists up to three jobs and updates the moment you add a reminder, Ready to Harvest opens the garden with the crop waiting, and Plant Health opens properly from the dashboard.
• v3.5.333 - September 2026 ▶
Fixed a dashboard that came up half empty. Today, the quick actions, your gardens and the Did You Know fact now fill in whenever you open the Home tab, not only on the first load, and the six quick actions are there from the start without having to set them.
• v3.5.332 - September 2026 ▶
Opening Plotera no longer shifts colour part way through: the start-up screen, the installed app’s own splash and the legal pages now use the same deep green as the rest of the app. “Plan Grow Harvest” on the dashboard is set in Plotera’s own typeface.
• v3.5.330 - September 2026 ▶
Dashboard tidy-up: less space under the greeting, the forecast now matches the height of Today, shorter quick action tiles, and the greeting follows the clock rather than the moment you opened the app.
• v3.5.329 - September 2026 ▶
A shorter dashboard. Alerts are counted in Today and open from there instead of stacking up cards at the top, and the whole screen now uses the same greens as the main menu.
• v3.5.328 - September 2026 ▶
A rebuilt home dashboard: a greeting, what is ready to harvest, today’s jobs beside the forecast, and six quick actions you choose yourself. Each garden card now shows a live still of that garden’s own 3D view, so you can see what is actually growing in it.
• v3.5.327 - September 2026 ▶
Every screen now shares the deeper green of the main menu, so the app reads as one palette instead of two. The menu also uses the real Plotera mark, and the Android splash and launcher icons have been rebuilt from the new artwork.
• v3.5.326 - September 2026 ▶
A new look: refreshed logo, splash and app icons, and a rebuilt main menu grouped by what you are doing — Main, My Garden, Planning & Growing, Care & Health, Harvest & Records. Small gardens can now be moved around freely in 2D instead of only sideways. Raised beds can be renamed, resized or deleted from a gear on the bed itself, tin beds have proper corrugated sheeting in six colours, and the grid inside beds turns off with the grid button. The Growth Simulator now shows each crop at its own real stage, and clearing a path actually clears it.
• v3.5.325 - September 2026 ▶
The sun path in the Location Advisor no longer flickers or doubles up when you hold the phone toward the sky — it now tracks smoothly wherever you point it. The advisor also opens on your saved spots instead of a three-step form: tap Test Another Spot to run a scan, and finishing one brings you straight back. Every plant in the app now has full health guidance, so plant diagnosis works for flowers, herbs and unusual crops as well as the common vegetables.
• v3.5.324 - September 2026 ▶
Planting now fills in the expected harvest time from the plant guide, and names the patch after the crop — Watermelons, Tomatoes, Chillies. The Growth Simulator follows your garden properly: switch it on and every crop sits at its own real stage, or drag the slider to see everything at one stage. Select, Clear, Erase, Copy and Undo work from every tab now instead of being spread across three, clearing a path really clears it, and raised beds can be renamed, resized or deleted — press Edit on the Beds tab and tap the gear on any bed. Tin beds have proper corrugated sheeting and come in six colours.
• v3.5.323 - September 2026 ▶
Setup is shorter and clearer. You are asked once whether you are planning a garden or tracking one you already have, and if you are tracking one, Plotera no longer guesses where your plants are — you place them yourself in the planner, with a walkthrough to show you how. What you choose to grow now visibly shapes your suggestions, and picking two kinds shows you both. The garden walkthrough covers the whole job of planting, plus paths, raised beds, 2D and 3D, Live Weather and the Growth Simulator, and can be replayed any time from the button on your garden.
• v3.5.322 - September 2026 ▶
The sun path in the Location Advisor now tracks properly. On some phones it was not reading the compass at all, so the line sat still and then jumped; Plotera now falls back to a second sensor when that happens, and recovers on its own if the reading drops out mid-scan. The line is also drawn many times more often as you move, so it follows the camera smoothly instead of stepping, and it no longer flicks across the middle of the screen as you turn.
• v3.5.321 - September 2026 ▶
New to Plotera? Setup now walks you from signing up to a planted garden in a few minutes. Tell Plotera where you grow and it shows what suits your area this month before you build anything, then helps you size your space and get your first crops in. A short walkthrough on the garden grid shows how selecting squares and planting actually works, and it can be replayed any time from Help. Raised bed names are readable again in 2D, beds show their soil in 3D with their name plaque on the outside, and garden textures load faster when moving between pages.
• v3.5.320 - September 2026 ▶
Planting is now one step: select the cells you want and choose a crop, and Plotera groups them for you. Select and Lasso have become a single tool, with paths and raised beds in their own tabs. Every plant in the app now has its own watering, feeding and harvest guidance rather than sharing advice with its plant family, so a lemon is told about lemons. Harvest questions match what you are actually growing, and ornamental flowers say so instead of being asked when to pick them.
• v3.5.319 - September 2026 ▶
The Garden Location Advisor is now a guided camera view: follow the sun's path across the sky and collect each sun to measure what shades your garden. In 3D, live weather follows the hour-by-hour forecast rather than a single snapshot, so drizzle, overcast and storms show when they happen, and frost and heat haze now appear in cold and hot climates. Touch controls match Google Maps and Earth — pinch to zoom, twist to rotate, two fingers up or down to tilt, and double-tap and drag for one-handed zoom.
• v3.5.318 - September 2026 ▶
Security and reliability improvements.
• v3.5.317 - September 2026 ▶
The Garden Location Advisor now measures shade with the camera. Trace the sun's path across the sky and Plotera reads what is actually in the way — trees, fences, rooflines — then reports your direct sun hours for both midsummer and midwinter from the one trace. Weather alerts are quieter too: severe warnings still arrive at any hour, while routine forecasts now wait for your chosen daily forecast time instead of arriving overnight.
• v3.5.316 - September 2026 ▶
Security and reliability improvements.
• v3.5.308 - September 2026 ▶
Explore the new Gardeners' Globe from the side menu. Joining is optional: visible gardeners use masked first names and deliberately shifted country-region markers, never exact locations.
• v3.5.305 - September 2026 ▶
Garden View now has a richer clear sky and live sun, more expressive rain and lightning, a compact tabbed Grid Toolbar on phones, and much smoother Growth Simulator scrubbing.
• v3.5.302 - September 2026 ▶
Live Conditions is now called Live Weather, making the 3D garden's local sun and weather control clearer at a glance.
3D v3.5.301 - September 2026 ▶
The redundant active-zone summary has been removed from the top of 3D Garden View, leaving a cleaner single row for view, weather and growth controls.
