FAQ

Common questions from home growers.

Is Plotera free?

Yes — completely free during beta. Every feature is unlocked. No credit card, no trial period, no limits.

What is beta?

Beta means Plotera is live and working but still being actively developed. You may find rough edges. In return, you get free access to everything and your feedback shapes what gets built next.

What happens when beta ends?

There will be a Free tier and a Pro tier. Beta users will get preferential pricing — a discount or extended free access. We will give plenty of notice before anything changes.

Does Plotera work on Android and iPhone?

Yes. Plotera is a Progressive Web App. On Android, use Chrome to install it to your home screen. On iPhone, open it in Safari and use Share → Add to Home Screen. No app store download required.

Is my garden data safe?

Your data is stored on secure servers and is never shared or sold. You can export your full garden data as JSON at any time, and delete your account and all data instantly from the app.

Does Plotera have companion planting?

Yes. Every plant in the encyclopedia lists good companions and plants to avoid. In the garden, companion suggestions appear inline when you assign plants to zones.

How does the planting calendar work?

Plotera uses your garden location to determine climate zone, then shows sowing, transplanting and harvest windows for each plant in your garden. Jobs appear in the calendar and to-do list automatically.

What is the Optimal Garden Builder?

A wizard that takes your garden dimensions, postcode and growing preferences (more tomatoes? leafy greens? quick growers?) and suggests a grid layout with companion-compatible plants for your current season.

Can I track watering and fertilising?

Yes. Set watering intervals per zone and the app tracks what is overdue. The Fertilising Advisor asks about your plant, growth stage and soil, then recommends a schedule and pushes tasks to your to-do list.

What is the Plant Health Wizard?

A symptom-based diagnostic tool. Describe what you are seeing — yellowing leaves, slow growth, pests — and the wizard returns a likely diagnosis with a recommended action plan.

Can I track seeds and seedlings?

Yes. The Seed Inventory tracks packets, stock levels and expiry dates, with an OCR scanner for packet labels. The Nursery Tray tracker follows seedlings from sowing through germination to transplant-ready.

Does it work offline?

Partly. Plotera is a PWA with a service worker, so the app shell loads offline. Full data sync requires a connection.

How do I get help or report a bug?

Use the Contact page or the in-app support form. Pablo checks it regularly and responds to everything.
